Excerpt from Tanzania...

... when you feel you are treated unfairly, come over here. One school had 247 students with only two teachers! The classrooms were mere shells, two incomplete, with floors of only loose, big rocks until they eventually pour the concrete. Students were on small stools, trying to balance on the rocks! No textbooks and no desks. And yet they seemed happy and ready to study. No discipline problems--but maybe they were tired after walking several miles to get to school! No water or electricity for them either....

Americans are truly blessed!

Mommy wasn't lying!

Well I am now tipping the scales at a whopping 16 lbs! I am 2 feet tall/long too. So when mommy and daddy say that I am heavy, they are telling the truth! I go next week to get my fourth conformer. Mommy hasn't knocked my current one out again, fhew! I've been doing a lot of smiling and laughing these days. I'm usually a very happy baby, as long as my diaper is clean and my belly is full. Ooh good news, yesterday I went with mommy and Kayson to the dentist and he had NO CAVITIES!! Yeah brother!

My room!

Not too much going on here at home. BUT I wanted to show you my room! My daddy did it all, isn't it cool!? I think he did a wonderful job on it!
I've been a good baby for my mommy. I'm smiling a lot and "talking" so much. And I'm so glad that my big brother is home.

Weekend...

My big brother went to Houston to see his daddy and step mom for the weekend, I really missed him, but he'll be back on Monday and I can't wait to see him! Mommy and daddy left me and went to the rodeo, but the good news is that I got to stay with papa and nana. I fell asleep on my papa and I was completely content until mommy and daddy got back. They woke me up and loaded me in daddy's truck and we went home. When we got home mommy was trying to clean my conformer and she popped it out! She freaked out a little bit, but daddy and I stayed calm. Daddy just put it right back in and I didn't even cry. On Sunday I got a bath and then papa and nana came to watch me so mommy and daddy could go to their Financial Peace University class and that's about it. Right now I am perfectly content on my daddy's lap watching bull riding. Those bull riders are nuts!

Yee Haw!

Yesterday Daddy, mommy and I went to Texas Hatters in Lockhart to pick up Daddy's custom-made cowboy hat! As soon as we walked in the door they gave me two cute little tiny hats to take pictures with. (My mom says I look like a pimp in the first picture, I have no idea what she's talking about!) They were a little bit too small for my head, but I still liked them. Then we had a tour of the store and learned how they make the hats. It was really neat to see how they did it. They've made hats for a ton of famous people from Willie Nelson to Chuck Norris and a ton of others. The people there were really nice to me. They thought that I was so cute! I dropped my pacifier and they even washed it off for me! I'll have to see if mommy will take a picture of daddy in his new hat.

Gggrrrreeeaatt!

Well I went to see Mr. Wenske last Wednesday and he was thoroughly pleased with my progress! I received my new conformer. He popped my old one out and had the new one in before I knew it. It only took a few minutes and we were on our way. He said that when I'm about 6 months old I will probably have a dermofat graft. This means that they'll take some fat from my hiney and transfer it to my eye. They will most likely take out the tiny eyeball at the same time. The muscles that are currently attached to my eye will be reattached to the transferred fat. If all goes well I will be able to move my prosthetic eye like a normal one. Mommy took pictures but we haven't figured out how to load them, so please bear with her!

Today

Today will be a busy day for me. I have Cathy coming to work with me from Early Childhood Intervention, YAY! I also have to get a new conformer this afternoon, so I get to see Mr. Wenske. I'll let you know how it all goes later today. Mommy is going to try and use our video camera to take still pictures today, so we'll see how that goes!

The latest...

On Thursday my mommy, daddy and I went to see Mr. Wenske. He took out the conformer that was in my eye socket and put in a new, larger one. It wasn't so bad for him to take it out, but putting the new one in wasn't so fun. Daddy had to hold my arms down while it was put in. I certainly let everyone know that I was NOT happy. Good thing that Mr. Wenske is a good ocularist because he was pretty quick. There was a tad of blood, but I was a trooper. He said that everything was expanding just the way he wants, even better than expected! One concern he does have is that the edges of my eyelids turn in a bit. He said that I am going to be a challenge, but we'll all work together and will have a great outcome. Oohh and on a sad note, my mommy lost her camera. We had some great pictures of me at the doctor's office, but they are on the camera. Hopefully it will show up soon! So my mommy put up these silly bath time pics for your enjoyment! I'm a little buda these days!
