Big thank you!

Mommy and I want to send out a huge thank you to my Papa (Steve) for getting us a new camera! My mommy can finally take lots of pictures of me and my brother again!!

Rough day... but I'm super duper tough!

Yesterday I went to see my pediatrician and I had to get four shots. Mommy said that it's better than getting really really sick, but I don't know if she is right. It hurt really badly. I screamed very loud just to make sure everyone knew that I was NOT happy. Then mommy and I went to have lunch with Nana and I was such a good boy. All of her friends thought I was so cute! Next we picked up daddy and headed to San Antonio to get my fifth conformer. This time Mr. Wenske painted it to look more like a real eye! It's hard to see though because I still need to do some expanding. I will have this one for a whole month, so maybe as time goes on you'll be able to see it better. It was not fun at all when it was inserted. Mr. Wenske wanted to make it as big as possible so it was pretty tough to get in place. We finally got it on the third try. And so for the rest of the day I made sure that someone was holding me every second... I just needed some extra loving.

Weekend fun!

This weekend was my daddy's 10 year high school reunion. Lots of his friends came into town and there were excited to see me too! Holly and Kevin Jacks brought their daughter Audrey and their foster baby Blake... he's tinier than me! Tiffany Sodolak made me chuckle when I was in her arms.

Tryin' new things!

Mom and dad are trying to get me to eat some rice cereal these days! It's kinda weird to have a spoon in my mouth, but I'm doing my best!

Easter Weekend

We had a wonderful Easter weekend. We started out at my great grandma and popo's. They all ate some good looking food, and of course I got to eat it a little bit later and believe me it was some good stuff! I got so many goodies too! I can't wait until next year so I can do something everyone called hunting eggs. I'm not sure what it is but it sounds fun! I got to see my paps and nana, my Aunt Connie and Uncle Wes, grandma and popo and Kristie and Jason!

Next we went to my Kneupper grandparents' house in New Braunfels. I got to see my cousin Audry and my Aunt Jenny and also my Uncle Josh and Alia. We relaxed there and everyone made me smile a lot it was fun.

My brother didn't come home until after we got back, so he got to open all of his Easter goodies when we got home, he is one spoiled big brother! I was so happy to see him, he was in Houston all week with his daddy for spring break. I'm so glad that you're home Kayson!

Have a blessed Easter

Kickin' Hiney... takin' names

Yep that's right! I have been doing super great with my conformers. Yesterday I got conformer #5, and get this... I didn't even cry! I'm getting used to this, since we do it so often. My daddy couldn't go with me so my cousin Kristie stepped in for him. My mommy told her that I would scream and cry when Mr. Wenske switched out my conformers, and I didn't at all. The "handle" on my new conformer is much narrower, this will allow me to practice blinking. I am going to be getting yet another new conformer on Tuesday. Mr. Wenske works all over Texas and he'll be helping other people for a few weeks so he wanted me to keep progressing. AND he said that I MIGHT be getting the derma fat transfer sooner than we thought... so we'll see how this all unfolds. (Thank you Aunt D'Laine & Uncle Victor for the cool shirt I'm sportin' in these picks!)

Friday Night - Game Night

This is mommy talking...
Okay so Friday night we decided it would be fun to play some board games. We started out with Mouse Trap (I had forgotten how fun it was!)... So we settle down to play and Kayson asks me ... "Mom did you play this when you were little?" I answered back "yes, I sure did". Then he says "was it a little different version (he says virgin!!) when you played it"? I said "yeah, it was a little different". Then he says... "was it done in black and white?" Ha! Black and white... where does he come up with these things?!? Naturally I shoot a glare at Phillip and he says that he had nothing to do with it! Kids say the darndest things!

Anyway it was great and Kayson seemed to dominate all of the games we played... Mouse Trap, Brain Quest and Trouble. He may not turn out to be an athlete, but he's got brains (and good looks too!). It was a great night.

I have to share my excitement with you... yesterday I went grocery shopping (with no kids!!) armed with a fist full of coupons.... and was so thrilled to see that by using those coupons I knocked a whopping $21.37 off of our bill! I love it! It's like free money! Sorry... had to share! (Thank you grandma and Linda for sharing your coupon stash with me!)

Conformer #4

Yesterday daddy and mommy took me to see Mr. Wenske. He was so impressed with my progress! First we tried a conformer without a "handle", but it didn't work out for me. So we used the same type of conformer that I've had, just a larger size. I screamed a lot, but it was just to make sure that everyone knew I do not like people messing with my eye socket! It didn't really hurt me, but my daddy had to hold my arms and legs down and I don't like it! I am doing great and I appreciate everyone's continued thoughts and prayers.

Alexis Jade Redd

Six years ago today an angel was born,
No one knew our hearts would be so torn,

Alexis Jade had problems with her heart,
It wasn’t fair she didn’t get a good start,

Her big, beautiful, touching eyes,
Reached us all so deep inside,

She had her daddy’s nose no doubt,
She was a strong little fighter inside and out,

In her mommy’s arms she loved to be,
Maria took care of Alexis so tenderly,

God looked down and knew she was the one,
He wanted her to be with him and His will was done,

Now she’s in heaven in eternal bliss,
There won’t be a day that we won’t miss,

In heaven our very own guardian angel sits,
Here on earth we have her sister, in the family Jaden fits.

We miss you Alexis Jade,
Happy Birthday, six years today.

(Alexis Jade Redd - 3/5/02 - 5/18/02

Alexis, was diagnosed with an Interrupted Aortic Arch, Ventricular Septal Defect, and Truncus Arteriosis....very big words for such a small heart. After one surgery and 7 weeks in NICU and PICU, we finally brought our precious baby home on April 24, 2002. God blessed us with 3 1/2 weeks at home with Alexis before He called upon her on May 18, 2002.

Alexis, we miss your big beautiful eyes and your tiny hands. You touched our hearts and miss you more than words can ever express. Our tears of joy turned into tears of grief all too soon. We rejoice in the day that the Lord will reunite us with you, our precious angel.

All our love,
Mommy and Daddy
(Maria Claudia and Kevin))

Kevin & Cha Cha - we appreciate all of your support while our angel was in the NICU, and your continued support through our journey with Kouper. You are great friends. We'll never forget our little angel, Alexis. Love ya, Kristin & Phillip
