Mama! I said Mama!

Yep, I'm 22 months old, and it's a little late, but who cares, I said MAMA! My mommy is over the moon because of it! I am calling Kayson, Bubba and daddy, Dada too! Before, everyone was Dada, but I think I've got it down now (most of the time). My mommy says there is nothing sweeter than hearing her baby say "mama". I'm also saying a couple of other words regularly. Currently I say ball and bowl (they sound the same, but I know which is which) star (sounds like Homer Simpson saying Doh!) hot and hat (sound the same, but I know the difference) and boo for cows (so close to moo!). Mama, dada and bubba are so proud of me!

I'm also becoming quite the climber. I think it's super fun, but mama and dada get a bit nervous. I'm very tough too, they think it's a dangerous combination! It's actually just my little plot to make sure they're watching me every second of the day!
I am still using all of my sign language and it really helps me communicate with my family.

We are thrilled that our Texas Longhorns won again this weekend and look forward to the Dallas Cowboys winning tonight too!

Mama took this picture of dad and me the other day chillin' on the couch. She says that my dada is so handsome!

Toodles for now, have a great Monday!

Dada, why are you ignoring me?!

A couple of days ago Papa went with mommy and me to a couple of doctor appointments in San Antonio (early in the morning). First on the agenda was mommy's doctor for Kylar. Once we walked in the waiting room I realized that I'd been there before and I actually kind of like it. They have a kid-sized table, a cool fish tank and some Legos to keep me occupied. I was pretty hungry when we got there so I sat at the table and ate my breakfast, while Mommy and Papa looked on. The waiting room quickly filled up and here's were the jokester in me comes out. Another woman with a big belly came in with her significant other, and they sat down across the room from us. (At this point the waiting room was probably 1/2 - 3/4 full.) All of a sudden I jumped up, walked toward the man sitting across from us and yelled "DADA". Mommy and Papa quickly told me that it was not in fact my dada... but I was sure it was him, he had blond hair and everything! "Dada" I yelled again and again and again, but he did NOT answer me, he kinda laughed and for some reason everyone else in the waiting room chuckled too. I probably said it about 10 times or so, why was he just sitting there? Why didn't he come pick me up? He kept on laughing finally he said "kiddo you're going to get me in trouble", and oh my, that made everyone REALLY laugh. I'm not exactly sure what was so funny there, but I finally realized that it was NOT my daddy.

It didn't take too long for mommy to get finished up with the doctor and then we were on our way to the next stop. We had a bit of time to kill so we decided to have brunch at IHOP. I was a very good boy at the restaurant, but when we left it was raining. I have not seen rain too many times in my lifetime, so I'm not used to it and I don't like it one bit. As mommy drove I tried to cover my eyes and make it go away, but it kept on raining harder and harder. The rain was coming down so hard that we had to drive slowly in order to stay as safe as we could. It was still pouring when we got to Mr. Wenske's office and we tried to wait it out, but it did not let up so we jumped out and made a run for it. Have I told you how great everyone at his office is?? I LOVE them all and I think they love me too! Mr. Wenske came out and greeted me with a bag of toys, and he even let me pick out one to keep! Of course I picked out a ball and that made my day!

After a short wait we went back into the exam room and my prosthetic was removed. This is the not-so-fun part... but I did fine. Connie (Mr. Wenske's assistant) and mommy held me down while it was removed and I'm pretty sure Papa was cringing as I screamed. Once it was out and I was released, I was good to go! Mr. Wenske decided he should add on to my eye and it would take about an hour or so. So we headed to Target to pass the time. The GREAT news is that when we got back Mr. Wenske got my eye back into my socket on the first try!! Woo Hoo! (Sometimes it takes three or four times and that really stinks.) Papa waited in the waiting room while it was put back in, and he was excited to hear all of us cheering when it went in so quickly! Mr. Wenske is the best ocularist in the world! Thank you so much for taking great care of me! Doesn't my eye look fantastic?!

All of our running around made for a long day, but as usual I was a trooper. Thank you Papa for going with us!

Kylar's goodies, mama's belly & signing deer!

My little bro isn't even here yet, but he's already being spoiled! Look at all of these gifts that he's already received! Thank you to Chelsea (Longhorn football and adorable camo stuff, Lauren & Angie (organic cookbook, baby food freezing container and snack containers), Holly (Halloween outfits) & D'Laine (blue/brown onesies/pants) for being so sweet!

This is a photo that Kayson took of mommy and her extremely expanded belly on Friday. Can you believe that Kylar will be here in less than two weeks?! We're all looking forward to his arrival.

Mom finally got a picture of me doing the sign for deer (well, one-handed). Daddy and I were watching a hunting show on Sunday, so I did it a lot. I've got it pretty much down pat. If you ask me to do it I'll run to the back door and look for deer while I'm signing it. I've also recently learned the signs for apple, cookie, egg, cracker, flower, shirt and monkey! Nothing is going to slow me down!

On a sad note, our Dallas Cowboys were defeated by the (gag) New York Giants, but I sure looked cute in my Tony Romo jersey! I think if mommy and daddy would have let me stay up for the whole game we would have won! Maybe next time.

Our Texas Longhorns were victorious though, so that made our weekend a bit sweeter!

Bubba becomes a Bear and swings like Tiger!

My big brother joined the Cub Scouts! I am so proud of him and he is lovin' it. He is thrilled to pieces about it and so am I. He earned his first belt loop on Friday for golf. Our uncles (Bret & Todd) should be so proud since they're die-hard golf lovers. My mommy said she was so impressed with how well he did hitting range balls. It was his first time ever and he did marvelously! He got to wear his Cub Scout shirt for the first time, isn't he handsome? I sure hope that I'll follow in his footsteps one day too. Great job bro!

While mommy and Kayson were golfing I went with daddy to our neighbor's house, and was a very good boy. I got to get up close and personal with their teeny tiny Kouper-sized pet fawn. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures since mommy had the camera, but we had a fun time nonetheless!

Wordless Wednesday (lovin' my animals!)

MRI Results

Well, we met with Dr. Fry on Monday, and just as I predicted, I'm kickin' hiney! You guys didn't have a doubt, did ya? That's right, she was totally impressed with not only the progress I've made since but birth, but also with the progress I've made since just April! She feels that the dermis fat graft (the fat that was transfered from my booty) is really doing it's job. I'm doing so well in fact that I don't have to have any surgery on my eye for at least SIX MONTHS, pretty awesome huh? We're thrilled! At some point I will definitely have to have surgery to correct my eyelid abnormality. The eyelid on my left side curls under, because there was no eye present during development. It's definitely gotten better over the last 22 months, but it's still curled under. So that will require some plastic surgery in the future. Another great thing is that not too long ago we discovered that I do indeed have eyelashes!

So bottom line, MRI looks great and I'm not going under the knife for a while!

I will be seeing my wonderful, fabulous ocularist, Mr. Wenske, next week. He is going to again check on my progress and see what he feels needs to be done next. One of the options he's discussed with us is adding more substance to the outside of my prosthetic, which will hopefully cause the bone to expand outward towards my ear. We shall see what he decides!

How blessed am I??

Still Cookin' and Lookin' Good!

Yep, that's right, Kylar is doing great! He has officially been released from his high-risk doctor, and we couldn't be happier. The ultrasound shot above is a profile picture of him looking straight up. We think he's going to look a lot like me, but only time will tell. Mommy and daddy have been getting out all of my baby stuff washing it and getting it all ready for Kylar's arrival. I recently learned the sign for baby and have been practicing it a lot. Kayson and I are so excited to meet him!

One of the items we've gotten washed and ready is my old infant carseat and it sure makes a great lounge chair! I'm not sure I'll give it up when my little bro gets here... guess I'll have to!

Can you believe he'll be here in 3 weeks (or less!)? We're hoping that he does NOT decide to make his debut early, but if he does, we'll be ready(ish).

Tomorrow (Monday) I have an appointment with my eye surgeon to go over my MRI results. I just know she is going to be blown away with all of the progress that I've made. After my results are seen by the doctor we should have a better idea of what direction we can go in to improve my eye even more.

Friday night my Papa, Nana and my great-grandpa Popo came over to see us. They brought us pizza and it was a very fun night. We ate and played a lot and then I was pooped. No you're eyes are NOT deceiving you... that's really me lying still with Nana on my parents' bed! It was way past my bedtime so that probably explains it, but it was so fun watching Curious George with her. Thank you guys so much for coming over!

Over the weekend we were thrilled to watch our Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys both win!! We love football season! Hook'Em Horns!!! Go Cowboys!
